  • You'll seek out the ethereal painted night sky of the Northern Lights by land or boat, perhaps also opting to star-gaze as you do. Admire the powerful geysers and Gulfoss Waterfall, and journey through the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park on the Golden Circle tour. You can also opt to travel to the toasty-warm Blue Lagoon, and watch a variety of whales, dolphins and purpoises in Faxaflói Bay on a cruise.

  • Still Iceland's largest hotel since its birth in 2015, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-awarded Fosshotel Reykjavík is part of the architecturally astounding Höfdatorg Tower in the business district. Your lofty Tower View room wows with superb views across Iceland's capital or captivating bay.

Highlights

Fosshotel Reykjavík is only a block and a half from the waterfront and the famous 1909-built Hodfi House, where Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbatsjov met in 1986 and pretty much brought an end to the Cold War. You're also only a block from Reykjavik’s central thoroughfare, Laugavegur, lined with restaurants, shops and cafés.

Crossing Laugavegur, the iconic sky-piercing Hallgrimskirkja church is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. If you're making your way to the harbour for the whale watching cruise, it's a 30-minute walk or a five-minute bus ride from Hlemmur bus stop (on Laugavegur) with a five-minute walk either side. Iconic architecture and scenic views are rife in this city, from the manmade Icelandic Opera to the simple beach surroundings of the Grotta Lighthouse.
