Day 1: UK - Yerevan

Arrive at your UK departure airport, for your flight to Yerevan. You’ll arrive here in the early hours and transfer to your hotel, ready to explore the next morning.

Day 2: Yerevan

After breakfast, begin your fascinating journey through Armenia’s history. Start the day with a city tour, taking in Republic Square, Freedom Square, the impressive opera and ballet theatre, and the Armenian Genocide memorial complex. In the afternoon, admire Etchmiadzin Cathedral and the ruins of Zvartnots, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 3: Yerevan - Ararat - Yerevan

This morning, you’ll be setting off towards Ararat, to visit the incredible Khor Virap monastery, where Christianity was adopted by the Armenian king in 301AD. Set in the shadow of Mount Ararat, this looks like something right out of a fairy tale. Noravak Monastery is up next, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located within a narrow gorge, then you’ll move on to taste some wines at Areni Winery. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 4: Yerevan

Today, visit the pagan Garni Temple, dedicated to the sun god Mihr. After this glimpse into pre-Christian Armenia, journey to another UNESCO Site, Geghard Monastery, which is carved out of the rock that surrounds it. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 5: Yerevan - Lake Sevan - Yerevan

Spend the morning at Lake Sevan, the largest freshwater lake in the Caucasus. You’ll climb the stairs to Sevanavank Monastery, enjoying fabulous views of the lake, then continue to Dilijan to visit Goshavank Monastery, surrounded by rocky mountains and densely forested areas. Finally, you’ll spend the afternoon at a family’s house learning to make traditional Armenian sweets. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 6: Yerevan

After breakfast, head to Amberd Fortress, nestled at the foot of Mount Aragats and once home to Pahlavouni princes. Next, you’ll stop off at the Armenian Alphabet Monument before admiring Saghmosavank Monastery and its incredible views across the canyon. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 7: Yerevan

Spend your final day in Armenia at leisure, sampling the cuisine or grabbing some souvenirs to take home. (Meals: breakfast).

Day 8: Yerevan - UK

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)

Good to know

An upgrade to half-board or full-board basis and travel insurance can purchased for additional costs. These can be arranged directly with our supplier, Exoticca, after booking and must be selected before final payment. Please note your final payment is due 60 days before your departure. Please note that your outbound and inbound flight may be indirect and include a stopover. Your flights may also be overnight, so please bare this in mind when planning the time you'll be away for.

Please also note that at the time of booking, your name must be filled out exactly as per your passport (including any middle names). This is in order to accurately book flights and for any required visa invitation letters.

This holiday allows you to spread the cost of your break by paying only the deposit upfront. The remaining balance is due at a later date and is to be paid directly to the holiday supplier (the exact date will be stated on your booking confirmation).

What is a deposit?

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
