Witness India’s magnificent forts, palaces, temples and the sacred Ganges river - includes breakfast, tours and travel
Your packed itinerary of cultural gems kicks off in India's charmingly chaotic capital, with a tour of Delhi's spectacular sights. Here, you'll roam the expansive surrounds of the resplendent Red Fort, weave through the bustling market stalls of Chandni Chowk on a rickshaw, witness Gandhi's cremation site at Raj Ghat and visit the UNESCO site of Qutub Minar – the 73-metre high minaret built in the early 13th century. You'll then head to Agra, home to the impressive red sandstone Agra Fort and what's widely considered the world's most beautiful building – the illustrious and love-imbued Taj Mahal.
A stop at the atmospheric ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri precedes your two-night stay in Jaipur, where you'll journey to the magnificent primal palaces of Amber Fort, snapping one of Jaipur’s most distinctive landmarks en route – the extraordinarily delicate, honeycomb adornments of the Hawa Mahal. An afternoon tour of Jaipur takes you to the 17th-century observatory constructed by the city's industrious founder, Jai Singh – not only a prince but also a soldier, astronomer and builder. You can also pour over intricately embroidered clothes of past Maharajas and Maharanis, rare manuscripts, paintings and carpets at the City Palace.
